Presbyterian Medical Services (PMS) operates 48 health centers in 32 community locations. In 2017, PMS provided 433,831 medical, dental and behavioral health visits to 78,209 New Mexicans in need. The personal per capita income in New Mexico over the same period was $39,203 – 23% percent lower than the national average, ranking the state 48th in the nation. In the same year, a little over 13% percent of PMS health center consumers were uninsured.
Nationwide, community health centers serve over 25 million Americans each year at more than 9,000 delivery sites in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories. One in every 15 people living in the United States depends on health center services. Health centers deliver high quality, cost effective, accessible care while serving as critical economic engines helping to power local economies.
