LaDonna Chacon, Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPNP)

Chacon received her Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Nursing from Eastern New Mexico University and her Master’s in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She completed academic requirements for an Adult-Gerontological Nurse Practitioner with the University of South Alabama and is continuing her studies towards a Doctor of Nursing Practice with a focus on palliative care.

A life-long resident of Quay County, Chacon has worked for many years at Dr. Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital in a variety of health care positions. Asked about her nursing career, Chacon replied, “I have been a nurse for 25 years. I decided to pursue my nurse practitioner certification to allow me to finish the next 20 years of my career providing primary care. There is such a need to prevent and manage chronic diseases in a more pro-active way.”

“I decided to join the team at Quay County Family Health Center because of the strong Presbyterian Medical Services commitment to patients, families, communities and employees. Being able to stay in my home community of Tucumcari is a big plus. It’s exciting for me to have the opportunity to be a consistent caregiver in an area that struggles to recruit providers.”

Her hobbies include reading and learning.
