About David

I'm a general dentist. Originally from Espanola, NM, I come from a dental family. I graduated from Pojoaque High School in 2001. I attended the University of New Mexico as a Regent's Scholar for my undergraduate education, graduating cum Laude with a degree in Biochemistry. I then attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City for dental school, graduating in 2009.

I am very active in the American Dental Association (ADA), the New Mexico Dental Association (NMDA), and the Albuquerque District Dental Society (ADDS)- serving in leadership positions in all levels of these organizations. For the past several years, I served as Secretary-Treasurer of the NMDA, where I'm the Chair of several committees. In 2016, I completed the ADA Institute for Diversity in Leadership Program. That year, I was also elected as the Representative from the 14th ADA Trustee District to the ADA Council on Communications (representing the States of Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and my home state of New Mexico). I'm a Fellow in both the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists, which are professional honor societies for Dentistry. I'm a member of the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Dental Association Foundation, the charitable wing of the NMDA. I introduced policy through the ADA, which has helped to improve the nationwide standard of care.

In 2015, I was awarded with a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, and in 2018, I was awarded a Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, an accomplishment that has been obtained by less than 1 percent of all General Dentists. I'm a graduate of both the Dawson Academy and the Piper Education and Research Center. I'm a member of several local and national study clubs, and have lectured on several aspects of Dentistry.

I have also served as the Pre-Dental Advisor at New Mexico State University and was a faculty member at Dona Ana Community College, teaching radiology to dental hygiene students. I have been published nationally in Dental Economics and the ADA News, as well as in the Journal of the New Mexico Dental Association.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. My youngest brother, Dr. Michael Manzanares is also a dentist.
