About John

Before joining the team at Presbyterian Medical Services – Socorro Mental Health, I provided tele-psychiatry services for behavioral health programs operated by La Frontera and Agave in Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Ruidoso and Santa Fe.

I spent most of my early career as a pediatric neuropsychologist. Many patients were in need of a psychiatric evaluation and medication. I found myself wanting to better understand the regimens they were following. I decided to obtain another graduate degree, this time in pharmacology. I thought it would make me a better neuropsychologist. After Hurricane Katrina, I took a position at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans as a medical psychologist and worked there for seven years, then I relocated to New Mexico.

One of my colleagues referred me to this position at Presbyterian Medical Services. She thought that I would be a good fit with Presbyterian Medical Services due to its commitment to rural mental health. I visited Socorro and agreed - it was a perfect fit. I’m really looking forward to providing psychiatric care for the Socorro area for many years.

I'm an avid photographer, hiker and guitar player.
