About Shawna

Shawna Clinton is a Mental Health Therapist and recent Master of Social Work graduate dedicated to serving individuals, families, and communities across New Mexico. She earned both her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University and is currently preparing to take the Association of Social Work Board exam to become a Licensed Master Social Worker, with plans to complete the required clinical supervision hours within the next three years.

Born and raised on the Navajo Nation before moving to Farmington, New Mexico at the age of six, Shawna proudly identifies as both a New Mexican and a "Rez girl" at heart. As a member of the Navajo Tribe, she brings a unique combination of professional training, cultural understanding, and lived experience to her work. Her personal journey has shaped her passion for supporting individuals who face cultural barriers, mental health challenges, and limited access to resources. Having navigated her own challenges as a Native American woman, Shawna understands the importance of culturally responsive care and advocacy. She is committed to helping individuals and families find healing, build resilience, and access meaningful support while honoring the traditions, values, and relationships that are central to their identities and communities.

Outside of her professional role, Shawna is a devoted wife and proud mother of two daughters who attend Farmington High School. Guided by her Navajo heritage, educational achievements, and commitment to community service, she strives to empower others, promote wellness, and create lasting positive change for future generations.
