SANTA FE, NM -- Expansion of facilities at the not-for-profit Presbyterian Medical Services Family Health Center (PMSFHC) in Rio Rancho is completed with the addition of five new state of the art dental exam rooms, and with the addition of new dental staff. Services include preventive care, basic restorative care, teeth cleaning, fillings, oral health screenings, and some rehabilitative or prosthetic dental care. Emergency care services also are available.

Dr. Andrea Eicker is the dental director and will oversee both dental health programs in Bernalillo at the Sandoval County Heath Commons Dental Program and in Rio Rancho at PMSFHC. Dr. Michael Manzanares, a New Mexico native, also has been tapped to provide services. He arrived June 26 and has begun receiving patients. All three programs are operated by Presbyterian Medical Services with corporate offices in Santa Fe.

Dental services at PMSFHC began prior to Manzanares’ arrival with the help of Dr. Andrea Eicker; Lisa Medina, Hygienist, and the newest Hygienist Jennifer Salazar. “We especially want to reach out to families and let them know we provide pediatric dental care in addition to adult care,” said Heather Clark, PMSFHC Program Administrator.

An Open House has been scheduled at PMSFHC for Friday, August 18. Members of the community can stop by and meet providers and tour the new dental facility. Free blood press checks and glucose and height/weight/BMI checks are planned in the primary care facility which is adjoined with dental services. The Open House coincides with National Health Center Week which is being celebrated by community health centers across the country.

In related developments, dental X-rays were moved off PMS servers to a Cloud system freeing up space. “PMS will be installing Cone Beam 3D imaging in its dental centers in July, first in Farmington and Artesia, then throughout the state wherever PMS provides dental service,” according to Dr. David Hanson, PMS Corporate Dental Director.

As with all PMS federally qualified health centers, PMSFHC is not-for-profit and Joint Commission accredited and does not turn away any patient due to an inability to pay. Payment options include Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance. For those who are uninsured, payment is on a sliding fee scale based on income.

Presbyterian Medical Services has been designing and delivering quality accessible integrated health, education, and human services in response to identified community needs since 1969. The organization largely serves rural and multi-cultural populations.
